Closing bell: Markets close in red, NIFTY50 close at 22,004; SENSEX loses over 360 points; Stock Market Highlights

The NIFTY Midcap 100 index (+1.05%) closed higher today. Meanwhile, NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index (+0.41%) closed in the green today.

The BANK NIFTY (-0.56%) index closed in red. Sell-off in Kotak Bank and HDFC dragged down the index.

Benchmark Indices – NIFTY50 (-0.42%) and SENSEX (0.50%) – closed in red after weak market opening. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 30 stocks closed lower. HDFC Bank and Bharati Airtel were among top losers.

Shares of low cost airline SpiceJet soared as much as 5% on Tuesday after the company announced a settlement with Export Development Canada to settle liabilities worth ₹755 crore. The stock was trading at ₹61.69 on BSE. The settlement is expected to generate savings worth ₹567 crore.

Shares of Whirlpool Corporation moved marginally lower on Tuesday, down 0.76%, and are now trading at ₹1228. The company reported a fire incident in the Alipur area of Delhi near the company warehouse. The incident is expected to not have a material impact on the company.

Shares of RailTel Corporation of India rose 3% to ₹369.20 on Tuesday after the company announced receipt of work order from Centre For Development Of Advanced Computing for VMWare virtualisation licences along with three years of support.

Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited rose as much as 3.15% to ₹3,270 in afternoon trade after securing an export order worth ₹194 crore from the Guyana Defence Force for the supply of 2 commuter aircraft.

Shares of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) rose more than 7% after the company signed a contract with Airports Authority of India (AAI). The project is estimated to be worth ₹229.43 crore.

Shares of RateGain Travel Technologies jump 2.32% to ₹782.95 in afternoon trade on Tuesday. The company announced a partnership with Spain-based Summerwind GSA for RateGain’s AI-based airline pricing solution.
