Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (-0.22%) and SENSEX (-0.26%) – closed in red on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The top losers were Bajaj Finserve, Bajaj Finance, Nestle India, Infosys and TCS.
The market breadth was weak today. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 29 stocks declined. And, India VIX, a measure of volatility in the domestic markets, declined around 0.54%.
PSU Bank (+2.62%) and Auto (+1.46%) were the top gainers on the sectoral front. On the other hand, IT (-1.67%) and Media (-1.26%) were the top losers.
The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The NIFTY NEXT 50 index was up 0.06% today. The NIFTY 100 was down 0.19%.
