Stock Market Highlights: Closing bell: Markets close higher, NIFTY50 above 22, 500, SENSEX gains nearly 350 points

The NIFTY Midcap 100 index (+0.01%) closed in green today. Meanwhile, NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index (+0.45%) closed marginally higher on Thursday.

The BANK NIFTY (+0.92%) index closed in green. Buy sentiment for HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Kotak Bank pulled the index.

Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.36%) and SENSEX (+0.47%) – close in green after robust opening. NIFTY50 trades at 22,514 level. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 31 stocks are advancing. HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra and Asian Paints are among top gainers.

Shares of GE Power India rose 6.32 % to ₹352.60 on NSE. The company announced receipt of contracts worth ₹775 crore from Jaiprakash Power Ventures. The contract is related to work at Nigrie Super Thermal Power Plant and Bina Thermal Power Plant.

Shares of Indiabulls Housing Finance rose 3.60 % and are currently trading at ₹ 93.45 on NSE. The company has raised U.S.$350 million by allotment of Senior Secured Social Bonds due 2027. The bonds are expected to be listed on the India International Exchange (IFSC) Limited.

Sectoral View: NIFTY BANK trades in green, now up (+0.89%). The index was pulled by gains in HDFC Bank.

Shares of Vedanta are currently up 1.84% trading at ₹ 304.30. The company said it has delivered its highest-ever annual volume across key businesses. They hit an intraday high of ₹312.50, up 4.5%, on the NSE.

Union Bank of India on Wednesday announced its DIFC Dubai Branch has arranged for a Syndicated Term Loan of $500 Million in two tranches with tenure of 3 years and 5 years. Shares of the company were marginally down 0.06 %, and were trading at ₹157.40 on NSE.
