Stock Market Highlights: Markets close flat, NIFTY50 close at 22,453, SENSEX falls 110 points

The BANK NIFTY (-0.07%) index closed marginally lower. Sell-off in ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank dragged down the index.

The NIFTY Midcap 100 index (+1.16%) closed higher today. Meanwhile, NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index (+1.22%) closed in the green today.

Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (-0.04%) and SENSEX (-0.15%) – closed marginally lower after yesterday’s record high closing. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 28 stocks closed lower. Tata Consumer Products and M&M were among top gainers, while Hero MotoCorp and Kotak Mahindra Bank were top losers.

NIFTY Media index was amongst top gainers today supported by gains in stocks like Zee Entertainment (5.0%), Saregama India (5.9%) Nazara Tech (2.0%).

Shares of HG Infra Engineering Limited surged nearly 11% to hit a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,098.85 apiece on the NSE on Tuesday, April 2, after the company announced receiving two contracts for solar power plants from Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited.

The Board of JK Cement has approved increasing the borrowing limit from ₹7,500 crore to ₹12,000 crore, the company said in an exchange filing.

The total sales of TVS Motor jumped 14% year-on-year in FY24, driven majorly by two-wheeler sales. The company saw a 12% rise in total sales in March 2024. While motorcycle sales grew in double digits, EV sales slipped in the last month of FY24.
