Benchmark SENSEX and NIFTY edged up in volatile trade on Friday, August 23, following buying in blue-chip stocks such as ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel amid mixed global trends ahead of the US Fed chair's speech at Jackson Hole Symposium.

Rising for the fourth straight session, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 33.02 points or 0.04% higher at 81,086.21.

In early trade, the benchmark declined 169.93 points or 0.20% to a low of 80,883.26. Later, it bounced back 178.3 points or 0.21% to hit a high of 81,231.49 but gave up gains towards the end.

The NSE Nifty edged up 11.65 points or 0.05% to close at 24,823.15 registering gains for the seventh session in a row.

Benchmark indices closed marginally higher on Friday, with NIFTY50 at 24,823 (+0.05%) and SENSEX up 33 points. In the NIFTY50 space, 28 stocks declined. LTIMindtree, Wipro and ONGC were among the top losers.

Online travel services operator EaseMyTrip.com said on Friday it has roped in Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez as its brand ambassador.

The company said the strategic partnership is part of its long-term strategy to boost its brand presence and attract new customers.

Reliance Home Finance Ltd (RHFL) fell 5.1% to ₹4.45 apiece on the NSE, and 4.9% to ₹4.46 on the BSE after SEBI barred Anil Ambani and 24 other entities, including former key officials of RHFL, from the securities market for five years for diversion of funds from the company.

JSW Energy on Friday said its arm JSW Neo Energy has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from NTPC for setting up a 300 MW wind-solar hybrid power project.

Following this capacity award, the company’s total locked-in generation capacity has risen to 16.7 GW, which includes a total locked-in hybrid capacity of 2.6 GW, a company statement said.

This project enhances the company's energy solution offerings and supports its transition towards becoming an energy products and services company, it said.
