SENSEX, NIFTY end on a mixed note, Britannia Industries and Kotak Mahindra Bank top gainers

On Monday, the 30-share BSE SENSEX closed with marginal gains of 0.02% to settle at 73,895.54. NSE NIFTY50 closed in red, down by 33.15 points or 0.15% to close at 22,442.70.
In the NIFTY50 space, 24 stocks advanced. Britannia Industries (+6.60%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (+5.02%), TCS (+2.05%), Hindustan Unilever (+1.80%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (+1.55%) were the major gainers.
Laggards included Titan Company (-7.07%), Adani Enterprises (-4.05%), Coal India (-3.07%), BPCL (-2.89%) and State Bank of India (-2.64%).
The broader market mirrored a negative performance with Nifty Midcap 100 closing down by 0.54% and Nifty Smallcap 100 falling by 1.50% on Monday.
Among the sectoral indices, the top two performers were NIFTY Realty (+2.76%) and NIFTY IT (+0.94%). On the other hand, the top two losers were Nifty PSU Bank (-3.66%) and Nifty Consumer Durables (-2.55%).
In the Asian markets, the Hang Seng added 0.55%, the Shanghai index gained 1.16% while the Nikkei 225 declined by 0.10%.
At 3:55 PM, Dow Jones Futures were seen trading at 38,925, up by 0.24%. Dow futures traded in green due to softer than anticipated April employment data with the possibility of a rate cut later this year.
The stock price of Britannia Industries ended higher by 6.65%. The company's consolidated revenue rose by 3.14% in Q4FY24 and stood at ₹4,014.07 crore. The board also recommended a dividend of ₹73.5 per share.
Shares of Birla Corporation Limited ended lower by 0.99% on Monday on NSE. The company announced its fourth-quarter results for FY24, with revenue growing by 7.87% YoY to ₹2,656.43 crore. The net profit of the company increased by 127.59% YoY to ₹193.34 crore. The board approved an investment of ₹425 crore to augment the capacity.
Lupin Limited ended the session in green, up by 1.48%. USFDA approved a new drug application for Travoprost Ophthalmic Solution.
