GMR Airports Infrastructure reports 10% rise in passenger traffic YoY in February

GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd reported a 10% year-on-year growth in passenger traffic in February.

In its airports traffic data for February released on Friday, March 15, the company said that around 1.01 crore passengers travelled through the airports managed by the GMR Airports Infra in Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa, Indonesia and the Philippines in February 2024, marking a 10% YoY growth. However, the passenger traffic dropped 3% month-on-month, compared to January.

Delhi Airport saw a 9% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, serving a total of 62,74,847 passengers. On February 17, the airport handled its highest-ever single-day passenger traffic, surpassing approximately 2,30,000 passengers.

Hyderabad Airport, too, experienced a similar 9% year-on-year growth, catering to 20,77,550 passengers in February 2024, though there was a 5% month-on-month decrease.

Similarly, Cebu Airport in the Philippines, witnessed a rise in passenger traffic, marking a year-on-year increase of 8% serving a total of 8,37,207 passengers.

Mopa Airport in Goa witnessed an extraordinary year-on-year surge of 171% in passenger traffic, handling a total of 4,19,111 passengers. However, the airport experienced a month-on-month decline of 16% in passenger traffic.

On the other hand, Medan Airport in Indonesia faced a decrease in passenger traffic, serving 5,57,091 passengers, marking a decline of 16% year-on-year in February. Its month-on-month figure also showed a decline of 11%.

In terms of aircraft movements, Delhi Airport saw a 5% year-on-year rise, with 35,380 movements. Hyderabad Airport observed a 10% increase year-on-year, with 14,494 aircraft movements in February 2024.

In contrast, Medan Airport experienced a slight decline of 4%, reporting 4,243 movements. Cebu Airport witnessed a year-on-year increase of 10%, with a total of 6,931 movements.

The growth trajectory of Goa’s Mopa Airport continued in aircraft movement statistics as well, showing a remarkable 66% rise with 2,737 movements. The month-on-month number, however, showed a decline of 15%.

Despite a 4% month-on-month drop, the collective aircraft movements for the month stood at 63,785, representing an 8% year-on-year rise.

On a year-to-date basis in FY24, the company reported a total passenger traffic of 11 crore, a YOY growth of 21%. Similarly, aircraft movements saw a 13% YoY growth at 712,649 movements YTD in FY24.

GMR Airports Infrastructure shares closed 0.96% lower at ₹77.3 apiece on NSE on Friday.
