Stock Market Highlights: Markets close higher; NIFTY50 gains 0.39%, SENSEX up 300 points

Benchmark indices closed higher on Tuesday, with NIFTY50 gaining 0.39% and SENSEX surging 300 points. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 34 stocks were advancing. Shriram Finance, Power Grid and Wipro were among top gainers.

Cipla Limited on Tuesday announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary in the United Kingdom, Cipla (EU) Limited will invest an additional EUR 3 million in Ethris GmbH, a global leader in delivering mRNAs directly to the respiratory system. This additional investment through a convertible loan will accelerate Cipla’s participation in the mRNA space.

In the afternoon session on Tuesday, Indian equity markets were trading in green at a record high. The 30-share Sensex was trading up by 276 points or 0.35% at 77,264, while the NIFTY50 index gained 75 points or 0.31% to trade at 23,539. The Bank Nifty is seen outperforming the frontline gauge with gains of 0.57% trading near the 50,300 mark. India VIX has cooled off from the day’s high and it was seen trading near the 13 mark. Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) rallied over 5% to trade at a 52-week high of ₹5,497 apiece on the NSE on Tuesday, June 18 after the company informed the exchanges that the Ministry of Defence issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for procurement of Light Combat Helicopters.

Piramal Capital & Housing Finance on Tuesday, June 18, announced that it had surpassed the milestone of ₹50,000 Crore in AUM of retail loans.

Marking their ninth consecutive session of gains, shares of Shriram Finance Ltd gained over 3% in trade on Tuesday, June 18, after a UK-based hedge fund offloaded a stake in the non-banking finance company (NBFC) via open market transactions. Read more.
