NIFTY50 and SENSEX close higher supported by gains in heavyweight stocks like Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank; Stock Market Highlights

The NIFTY Financial Services (+1.5%) index closed higher today, with PFC (+6.7%) and REC Ltd (+6.5) being the top gainers, while SBI Card (-5.7%) and Chola Finance (-1.1%) being the top losers.

The NIFTY Midcap 100 index (+1.6%) closed higher today. Meanwhile, NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index (+1.4%) closed in the green today.

The BANK NIFTY (+1.2%) index closed in the green. Gains in HDFC Bank (+1.5%), Kotak Bank (+3.2%) and ICICI Bank (+0.8%) supported the index.

India’s benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+1.8%) and Sensex (+1.7%) – closed higher. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 40 stocks advanced. Gains in index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and L&T propelled the markets higher.

• Short build up: Cipla, ITC, JSW Steel, LTI Mindtree

Shares of Voltamp Transformers gained over 11% today after its Q3 net profit rose 86.3% YoY to ₹95 crore versus ₹51 crore in a year-ago quarter. Meanwhile, its revenue was up 14% YoY at ₹408.5 crore.

Reliance Industries shares gained over 6% today, hitting a 52-week high of ₹2,886 per share. The company’s share rose for the third straight session surpassing the market capitalisation of ₹ 19 lakh crore.

• Shares of Adani Green Energy rose 4.5% today, reacting to upbeat quarterly results announced by the company. Its consolidated net profit was at ₹256 crore compared to ₹ 103 crore net profit in the corresponding quarter of last year.

• Meanwhile, its revenue from operations was up 17% YoY at ₹2,311 crore. EBITDA up 95% at ₹1,666 crore.
