NIFTY50 and SENSEX snap six-day winning streak, Paytm hits 5% upper circuit: Highlights

The NIFTY Financial Services (-0.5%) index closed lower today, with PFC and REC being the top losers.

The BANK NIFTY (-0.1%) index closed flat. Weakness in HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank weighed on the index.

The benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (-0.7%) and SENSEX (-0.5%) – closed lower, snapping a six-day winning streak. After trading flat for most part of the day, the markets witnessed heavy selling pressure in the last hour. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 37 stocks closed in the red. Weakness in Infosys, HDFC Bank and Larsen and Toubro dragged down the markets.

India VIX, which is a measure of volatility in Indian markets, was down around 1% today.

The broader markets also closed in the red. NIFTY Smallcap 100 and NIFTY Midcap 100 closed 1% and 1.2% lower today.

• Long build up: Hindalco, SBI, ICICI Bank, Tata Consumer and Eicher Motors

• Short build up: Apollo Hospitals, LTIM, Infosys, Wipro and BPCL

The IPO of Juniper Hotels IPO has been subscribed 8% on day 1. Retail investors are showing strong interest in the public issue with the retail portion being subscribed 42%.

The price band for the ₹1,800 crore IPO is between ₹342 and ₹360 per share.

The benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (-0.1%) and SENSEX (-0.1%) – are trading flat amid rising volatility. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 25 stocks closed in the red. Meanwhile, Paytm continues on its recovery path, hitting 5% upper circuit for the third consecutive day.

Shares of Raymond are up more than 5% today.

This comes a day after the company launched its first project outside Thane ‘The Address by GS, Bandra’.

The Bandra residential project in Mumbai is estimated to have a development value of over ₹2,000 crore.
