NIFTY50 closes above 22,100, Sensex gains 280 points, Paytm surges 5%; Stock Market LIVE Updates

The BANK NIFTY (+0.3%) index closed in the green. Gains in ICICI Bank, SBI and AU Bank supported the index.

India’s benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.3%) and SENSEX (+0.3%) – closed higher today, extending gains for the fifth consecutive day. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 28 stocks closed in the green. Gains in ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel and ITC supported the index.

The broader markets also closed in the green. The NIFTY Smallcap Index was up 0.4% today. The NIFTY Midcap Index also closed 0.3% higher.

On the sectoral front, Pharma and FMCG were the top gainers. On the other hand, Realty and PSU Bank were the top losers.

The order is from the Ministry of Defence for 250 specialised wagons.

Shares of CRISIL, one of India’s leading ratings agencies, are up more than 6% today.

This comes after it reported a strong set of Q3 numbers on Friday post the market hours. The company’s Q3 net profit was up 33% year-on-year to ₹210 crore. This was aided by a 11.6% rise in income from operation to ₹917 crore.
