Markets take a breather, NIFTY50 close at 20,906, SENSEX falls 377 points; Stock Market Highlights

The NIFTY Financial Services (-0.2%) index closed in red today. HDFC Life (+5.1%) and ICICI Prudential Life (+2.5%) were the top gainers, whereas Shriram Finance (-2.3%) and IEX (-1.4%) were the top losers.

The BANK NIFTY (-0.4%) index closed lower today. Weakness in HDFC Bank (-1.0%), Kotak Bank (-1.2%) and IndusInd Bank (-1.5%) was a drag on the index.

Markets take a breather after a record bull run with NIFTY50 (-0.4%) and Sensex (-0.4%) closing lower today. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 32 stocks declined. On the sectoral front, Media (+0.5%) and Metal (+0.3%) were the top gainers, while Realty (-1.7%) and Oil & Gas (-1.3%) were the top losers.

The IPO of DOMS Industries, the stationery and art products manufacturer, will be open for subscription between 13 and 15 December. The IPO of India Shelter Finance, a housing finance company, will be open for subscription tomorrow. The IPO will remain open till 15 December (Friday). • Airlines operator SpiceJet narrowed its losses during the second quarter of FY24. Its consolidated net loss for the quarter was at ₹449 crore compared to a net loss of ₹833 crore in a year ago period. Meanwhile, its revenue from operations was down 27% YoY at ₹1,428 crore.

• Following the result announcement, shares of the company declined more than 8% intraday.

• SpiceJet plans to raise ₹2,250 crore through the issuance of equity shares to financial institutions, FII’s, HNI’s and private investors. The money raised through this will be used to strengthen the company’s finances and accelerate its growth trajectory.

• The company will issue up to 32 crore shares at an issue price of ₹50 per share and to issue up to 13 crore convertible warrants at ₹50 per warrant.

• The company will issue Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) worth ₹5,000 crore in one or more tranches. The money raised through these NCDs will be used for capex/refinancing existing debt and general corporate purposes.

• Around ₹250.19 crore will be raised through the issuance of non-cumulative redeemable preference shares in one or more tranches on a private placement basis.

• Meanwhile, the company's shares are trading flat today.

Tata Communications has announced partnership with automaker JLR. As part of the deal, Tata Communications will deploy its cloud-first, software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology, connecting all JLR’s 128 sites worldwide.

Shares of the PSU metal manufacturing company rose more than 3% today after it secured a new order worth ₹357 crore. With this new order win, the company’s total order book now stands at ₹1100 crore for the ongoing fiscal year.

Meanwhile, the company's shares are up over 87% on a year-to-date basis.
