NIFTY50 remains above 22,400, SENSEX up 0.09%; NTPC, HDFC Life top gainers; Stock Market Highlights

The BANK NIFTY (+0.34%) index closed higher. Gains in Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Bank of Baroda Bank propelled the index higher.

The NIFTY Financial Services (+0.38%) index closed higher today, with HDFC Life and HDFC Asset Management being the top gainers.

Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.12%) and SENSEX (+0.09%) – closed higher on Monday, March 4, 2024. The top gainers were NTPC, HDFC Life, Power Grid, ONGC and BPCL.

The market breadth was strong today. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 25 stocks advanced. And, India VIX, a measure of volatility in the domestic markets, declined around 0.07%.

Oil and Gas (+1.87%) and Pvt Bank (+0.40%) were the top gainers on the sectoral front. On the other hand, Media (-1.85%) and IT (-0.77%) were the top losers.

The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The NIFTY MIDCAP 100 index was up 0.57% today. The NIFTY NEXT 50 closed 0.27% higher.

The shares of Supriya Lifescience Limited on Monday rose 5.27% or ₹18.50 to ₹369.75, with the intra-day high of ₹371.40.

The shares of Gail Limited on Monday rose 4.45% or ₹8.20 to ₹192.60, with the intra-day high of ₹192.75.

Shares of Reliance Industries on Monday, March 4, hit a 52-week high of ₹3,014.70.
