NIFTY50, SENSEX close higher in second phase of special trading session; Stock Market Highlights

The BANK NIFTY (+0.02%) index closed higher. Gains in Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and IDFC First Bank propelled the index higher.

The NIFTY Financial Services (+0.03%) index closed higher today, with Indian Energy Exchange and ICICI Lombard General Insurance being the top gainers.

Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.18%) and SENSEX (+0.08%) – closed higher during the special trading session on Saturday, March 2.

The market breadth was strong today. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 35 stocks advanced. And, India VIX, which is a measure of volatility in the domestic markets, declined around 0.24%.

On the sectoral front, Media (+1.75%) and Metal (+1.58%) were the top gainers. On the other hand, Pvt Bank (0.01%) was the sole losers.

The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The NIFTY MICROCAP250 index was up 0.86% today. The NIFTY MIDCAP 100 closed 0.74% higher.

HG Infra Engineering Limited has received the letter of acceptance from South Central Railway for a project worth ₹447.11 crore.

India’s benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.2%) and SENSEX (+0.2%) – open higher in the second phase of the special trading session on Saturday, March 2. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 36 stocks are advancing. Tata Steel, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Ports are the top gainers.

• Shares of InfoEdge were down over 2% in today’s special trading session after the company's apps were removed from Google's Play Store. Info Edge said mobile applications, including Naukri.com Job Search App, Naukri Recruiter, Naukrigulf Job Search App, 99acres Buy/Sell/Rent Property and Shiksha were removed from the playstore.

• The Company is reviewing and evaluating the next course of action and working with Google in this regard, to ensure that the Company’s mobile applications are reinstated on the Google Play Store, in the best timely manner.

Benchmark NIFTY50 index scaled new peak in today’s special trading session. Index touched a lifetime high of 22,420 level, while SENSEX gained more than 150+ points. Tata Steel and Hero MotoCorp were among top gainers.
