Benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+1.62%) and SENSEX (+1.72%) – closed at fresh record high on Friday, 1st March.
The market breadth was strong today following the robust 8.4% GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth in the October-December quarter of the financial year 2023-23. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 37 stocks advanced. And, India VIX, which is a measure of volatility in the domestic markets, declined around 2.17%.
On the sectoral front, Metal (+3.62%) and Bank (+2.53%) were the top gainers. On the other hand, Media (-1.47%) and Healthcare (-1.38%) were the top losers.
The benchmark indices outperformed the broader markets. The NIFTY 100 index was up 1.46% today. The NIFTY 200 closed 1.37% higher.
