What should users know about execution, risks, and alert behaviour?

P&L-based alerts and exits are designed to help you monitor and manage your positions, but it’s important to understand how execution works and what limitations may apply.

Execution and order placement

Even when Alert & place order is selected, execution is not guaranteed. The system only places exit orders on your behalf. Whether these orders are executed depends on market conditions such as liquidity, volatility, and available prices at that time.

All exit orders are placed as Market Price Protected (MPP) orders. While this helps reduce extreme price impact, it does not eliminate slippage. In fast-moving or volatile markets, the final execution price may differ from the price visible when the alert was triggered.

In illiquid instruments, such as far out-of-the-money options or low-volume stocks, orders may be partially executed or may fail entirely due to the lack of matching orders in the market.

Alert behaviour and auto-cancellation

If you manually exit, partially exit, or modify the quantity of any position linked to a P&L-based alert, the entire alert is automatically cancelled. This is a safety measure to prevent exit orders from being placed on an incomplete or altered strategy. You will receive a notification when an alert is cancelled for this reason.

P&L-based alerts are valid only for the trading day. Any alert that is not triggered will automatically expire at the end of the day.

If the market opens with a gap and the combined P&L already crosses your set target or stop-loss level, the alert will trigger immediately at market open.

If an order is rejected after an alert is triggered, the alert status will still appear as Triggered. In such cases, you should check the Order Book to understand the reason for the rejection.

Alert Only mode

When Alert only is selected, the system sends you a notification when the set P&L level is reached. No orders are placed automatically. Acting on the alert is entirely your responsibility, and market conditions may change between receiving the alert and placing a manual order.
