With Upstox, any single order can be divided in maximum up to 20 slices. This means your large order can be split into a maximum of 20 smaller orders.
The slicing limit depends on the freeze quantity set by the exchange for each security. We will take an example of a NIFTY futures contract here. The freeze quantity of NIFTY futures is 1800. Now, if you place an order for 36,000 quantity, it will automatically be split into 20 orders of 1800 each (36,000/20 = 1800). This is what is maximum allowed. Here, if you place an order above 36,000, the order will not be accepted because that would need more than 20 slices. Now, say if you want to place an order of 40,000 here, you will have to split 40,000 quantity into two parts. The parts may not necessarily be equal, but a part should be less than 36,000. Also, different securities have different freeze quantities, so the maximum quantity you can order in one go will vary. Always check the freeze limit for the specific stock or contract you are trading.
