What is credit risk?

Credit risk is the possibility that the NCD issuer may default — meaning they might fail to pay back the interest or principal amount on time.

Unsecured NCDs carry a higher credit risk because they are not backed by any collateral.

In case the company faces financial troubles, investors in unsecured NCDs may have lower priority in claim settlement.

Always check the issuer’s credit rating before investing — the higher the rating, the lower the risk.
