To update the name on your Upstox account, you’ll need to follow the steps below. This process requires submitting physical copies of specific forms and supporting documents via courier.

Note:

• Please submit each request on a single modification form, and avoid combining multiple request types on the same form. This will help us process your requests efficiently.
• Please fill out a separate form for each request. Don’t include different kinds of requests on the same modification form. For example do not submit Name and Signature modification using one form, use 2 different forms.
• Each request will be processed one after the other, with an individual turnaround time of 2–3 working days.
• Do not include any address information in the modification form when submitting a Name Modification request.
• Only mention the specific details that need to be updated and leave all other fields blank, as instructed.
• Changes related to address, email, or mobile number must be submitted online through your Upstox profile.

Supporting Documents to Include

Mandatory Document

• Self-attested copy of PAN Card with the updated name. (Please sign within the white space provided on the PAN card)

Additional Documents (Any one of the following):

a. Self-attested Marriage Certificate or Divorce Certificate.

b. Publication:

• Clients residing in Karnataka and Punjab must provide:
• An original newspaper publication or a notarised photocopy if the Gazette copy is unavailable.

c. Self-Attested Gazette Publication:

• A self-attested copy of the official gazette publication showing the name change.
• Please ensure the existing name in the gazette should match the name registered with Upstox. Also, the new name in the gazette should match the updated IT name.

Information to Fill in the Forms:

a. Upstox Client ID.

b. Basic Details:

• Name as per the Income Tax Database (use this link to update your name with the Income Tax Department).
• Date of Birth.
• PAN Card Number.
• Photo with across signature

c. Signature as per Upstox records.

While changing your name on Upstox, avoid the following mistakes on the modification form to prevent rejection:

• Overwriting/Cancellation/Use of Whitener on the form
• Avoid the use of Markers, pencils & colourful pens
