How does the order execution work when placed via the ‘Pick Strategy’ flow?

When you place market orders via Upstox’s Pick Strategy flow, the orders are executed through multi-leg orders and sent to the exchange one order at a time. When the previous order gets executed, only then is the new order sent to the exchange. On execution of all these orders, these orders are then grouped to track the profit or loss for the whole strategy.

How are orders executed in the ‘Pick Strategy’ flow?

  • Market order sent in sequence

On confirmation of the strategy, Upstox sends one market order to the exchange, on execution of which, the next order is sent for execution.

  • Order Grouping

Once all the orders are executed, Upstox groups the orders so you can track the overall profit and loss made on the strategy.

  • Order Validity

Orders placed via the ‘Pick Strategy’ flow are valid for the current trading session.

  • Managing unexecuted orders

If orders remain partially or fully unexecuted by the end of the trading session, then Upstox automatically cancels the orders. And any orders that were executed as a part of the strategy, Upstox will close them.

  • No modification allowed

Once the order is placed, you cannot modify or make changes to the order details. You can cancel unexecuted orders.
