How can I rematerialise (convert my demat shares into physical share certificates) through Upstox?

Rematerialisation is the process of converting your electronic securities (held in a demat account) back into physical share certificates. If you wish to rematerialise shares through Upstox, follow the steps below:

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Gather the Required Documents

You will need the following:

a. One RRF per ISIN, scrip

b. Signed RRF

c. Signature as per DP records: Must match the signature registered with Upstox.

d. Signature as per RTA records: Must match the signature with Company/RTA record.

  • Sufficient Free / Lock-in Balance should be present in the demat account.

  • Separate remat request should be setup for free shares and lock-in shares.

  • The ISIN should not be Inactive / Frozen for debits.

  • When selecting the “Lot option” i.e. MARKET LOT or JUMBO LOT, we suggested that select a “JUMBO LOT”, as the charges applicable would vary depending on the lot opted for.

  • Remat charges will be ₹100 per certificate plus charges of ₹50/- per request plus GST, subject to maximum ₹5,00,000, whichever is higher payable on confirmation of the request.

2. Submission

Once all documents are ready and signed correctly:

  • Submit the RRF and supporting documents to Upstox’s registered office or designated address for physical document submission.

Harishchandra Sawant (Upstox)

30th Floor, Sunshine Tower,

Senapati Bapat Marg,

Dadar (W),Mumbai – 400013

Upstox will forward the documents to the Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA) of the respective company.

3. Processing Time

The rematerialisation process may take 30 business days, depending on the RTA and verification procedures.

Note

  • Ensure all signatures match exactly with records to avoid rejection.

  • Once processed, you'll receive physical share certificates at your registered address recorded with Company/RTA.
