How are GTT Stop-Loss or Target percentages calculated?

Investors utilising Good Till Triggered (GTT) orders can assess Stop-Loss and Target percentages differently, based on if the order is new or applied to an existing position.

Fresh GTT Orders:

When placing a new GTT order for a fresh GTT order, if the primary leg has yet to get triggered when the GTT order is placed, the Stop-Loss and Target percentages for that GTT order are based on the triggering price condition corresponding to the primary leg. We want to ensure that the order is placed as intended, at the entry or exit level, so we calculate Stop-Loss and Target percentages based on the triggering condition. After the primary leg has been triggered and executed, any modification to the GTT order will calculate Stop-Loss and Target percentages based on the Last Traded Price (LTP). This adjustment guarantees that the order is in sync with the latest market price while ensuring accuracy and relevancy.

For GTT on existing positions or holdings:

For GTT orders placed on existing positions or holdings, the Stop-Loss and Target percentages are simply calculated based on the LTP. This allows traders to place or change GTT orders without disruption, meaning the trades remain in line with market clearing price.
