Can I place a GTT sell order on the ‘Upstox for investors’ mode?

No, the users are not able to place a GTT (Good Till Triggered) sell order in ‘Upstox for Investors’ mode because there is a TPIN authorisation process that must be done for all sell orders.

If you want to place a GTT sell order, traders need to switch to trader mode.

A GTT order (Custom Validity Limit Order) allows you to set a price that can automatically execute your order once that price is reached. With sell orders specifically, there is extra security when selling a holder's shares because of the TPIN authorisation.

Why is TPIN Authorisation Required?

In order to complete a sell order, the investor will need to manually enter or confirm the TPIN (Trading Personal Identification Number) prior to finalising the transaction. Since this requires a manual process, the GTT mechanism is unable to process sell orders in Investors mode currently.

If you are looking to better understand this process, we encourage you to review the more detailed guide, "What is Post Trade Authorisation?", which explains the importance of the TPIN authorisation process and how it works to help with secure and verified ease of selling shares.
