Mixed trend for brokerage stocks as benchmark indices close marginally higher

Brokerage stocks exhibited a mixed trend on Tuesday, April 23, with a few leading players in the segment ending in the positive territory.

Benchmark indices NIFTY and SENSEX closed marginally higher as profit booking eroded most of the intraday gains.

The markets opened higher amid positive global cues and maintained an upward momentum during the day.

However, the key indices failed to retain the gains at close due to heavy selling and settled marginally higher extending gains for a third-day in a row.

The 30-share BSE SENSEX settled 89.83 points, or 0.12% higher, at 73,738.45 level while the NIFTY closed at 22,368, up 31.6 points or 0.14%.

Among the 11 brokerage firms reviewed in today’s market wrap, Geojit Financial Services, Dolat Algotech, 5Paisa Capital, Angel One, SMC Global Securities and ICICI Securities saw marginal gains of up to 2.4% on the NSE.

Conversely, Monarch Networth Capital, Anand Rathi Wealth, Nuvama Wealth Management, IIFL Securities and Motilal Oswal Financial Services ended the trading session with losses. The stocks settled with losses up to 2.5% at close.

Out of the total brokerage stocks covered in today’s market wrap, six concluded the session in positive territory, while the remaining five ended in negative territory.

Angel One: The stock extended the gains for second consecutive session settling 1.12% higher at ₹2,857.45 apiece on the NSE.

SMC Global Securities: The scrip closed with a gain of 0.51% at ₹146.85 apiece on the NSE.

ICICI Securities: The share closed almost flat, up 0.04%, at ₹723.45 apiece.

Monarch Networth Capital: Shares of the brokerage company closed 2.52% lower at ₹591.1 apiece.

Anand Rathi Wealth: The stock extended the losses for second straioght day and closed at ₹3,960 apiece, down1.52%.

Nuvama Wealth Management: The stock extended the losses for third straight day to close at ₹5,181 apiece, down 1.4%.

IIFL Securities: IIFL Securities shares closed at ₹145.5 apiece, down 0.68%, on the NSE.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services: The stock dropped 0.35% at close to ₹2,320 apiece on the NSE.
