Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited has announced the commissioning of wraparound packaging equipment at its canning facility in Bhopal. In a regulatory filing, the company said the installation of the wraparound equipment was “milestone achievement” and would optimise its production process and increase operational efficiency by about 25%.

“Designed to seamlessly integrate into existing production lines, the wraparound equipment offers advanced features and capabilities. Its precision engineering ensures precise wrapping and sealing of products, minimizing downtime and maximizing throughput,” said Som Distilleries.

The company’s shares were trading at ₹308.55 a piece on the NSE at around 2.10 pm on Tuesday, an increase of 3.51% compared to its previous close. The stock opened at ₹297.4 apiece, marginally lower than the previous close of ₹298.1 and went on to hit the day’s high of ₹311 apiece.

On April 8, Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited informed the stock exchanges that commercial production had begun at its enhanced capacity Karnataka plant. According to the company, following the expansion, the plant’s capacity has reached 140 lakh cases of beer per annum, up from the previous capacity of 90 lakh.

Som Distilleries said this initiative will enable the company to address the rising demand in Karnataka and meet the requirements of states such as Kerala and Pondicherry.

Som Distilleries and Breweries Limited, located in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district, is promoted by Som Group, an alcoholic beverage manufacturer. The company specialises in the production of beer and the blending and bottling of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
