Hospitality major ITC has launched ITC Ratnadipa, a luxury property in Colombo, Sri Lanka through its wholly-owned subsidiary WelcomHotels Lanka (Private) Limited.

The country’s President Ranil Wickramasinghe attended the launch event along with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunewardena and Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha.

IT has “has over the years built iconic properties across India that are inspired by the ITC Hotels’ philosophy of being rooted to the soil and reflect the unique architecture, vibrant culture, and grandeur of the region," ITC Chairman Sanjiv Puri said. “These world-class hotels offer globally renowned signature cuisines, best-in-class services and have pioneered the ethos of responsible luxury.”

The luxury destination draws inspiration from the national flower of Sri Lanka, the floating water lily, which is a recurrent motif across the hotel, the company said in a statement. “ITC Ratnadipa or “Island of Gems” offers 352 guest rooms, suites and service apartments, each adorned with private balconies with breath taking waterfront views. This landmark complex situated along the shores of the Indian Ocean on one side and Beira Lake on the other.” The property comprises two towers, which are connected at a height of 100 meters, in a first of its kind ‘Ahasa’ sky bridge.

ITC chief Puri added that the hotel’s launch is a step towards strengthening tourism ties between India and Sri Lanka.

ITC Ratnadipa features 352 rooms and suites, sky mansions, and nine restaurants and bars spread over 40000 sq ft. The hotel’s menu will also reflect local and indigenous cuisines, with raw material being procured from Sri Lankan local vendors. Ratnadipa is the 16th hotel in the ITC Hotel’s portfolio.

ITC Limited’s stock price closed at ₹437.55 today, up 2.1%.
