Gold prices at record high ahead of Dhanteras festival; check the latest gold and silver prices in your city

Gold prices retreated from record high levels to trade lower by ₹20 per 10 grams in major Indian cities in early trade on Wednesday, October 23, in line with global trends.

Snapping its two-day record-breaking run, the yellow metal took a breather and dropped by ₹20 to ₹79,780 per 10 grams in Delhi. The 22K gold slipped below the ₹73,000 per 10 grams level in major cities except for Delhi. Festive season demand and increased tensions in the Middle East, however, supported the metal at record levels.

Spot gold dropped 0.34% to $2,739.66 an ounce in early Asian trade on Wednesday. Gold retreated from an all-time high of $2,749 an ounce hit in overnight trade.

In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices rose by ₹20 to ₹79,780 per 10 gm, and 22K gold prices rose by a similar margin to ₹73,140 per 10 gm.

Silver extended gains for the third day, rising by ₹1,000 per kg in major Indian cities in early trade on Wednesday. Silver prices rose by ₹1,000 to ₹1,02,100 per kg in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Increased demand from industrial units and the renewable industry is supporting metal prices despite weak global trends.

Spot Silver traded lower by 0.77% at $34.55 an ounce in global markets. Silver hit a high of $33.89 an ounce in overnight trade.
