Gold prices slipped from record highs in major cities in India in early trade on Monday, September 30, following a correction in precious metal prices in global markets.
Gold prices had hit an all-time high of ₹77,550 per 10 grams in Delhi markets on Saturday in line with the precious metal’s rally to a record high in global spot markets. Geopolitical concerns over the Israel-Hezbollah conflict after the killing of a Hezbollah leader bolstered the metal’s appeal as a safe haven.
In early Asian trade, spot gold edged down 0.19% to $2,654.2 an ounce on Monday. Gold retreated from its all-time high of $2,685.96 an ounce hit last week.
In Delhi markets, 24K and 22K gold prices eased by ₹10 to ₹77,540 per 10 grams and ₹71,090 per 10 grams, respectively. Silver prices also eased by ₹100 per kg in the national capital in line with weak global cues.
On Saturday, 24K gold prices raced to an all-time high of ₹77,500 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹71,100 per 10 grams, mainly due to international cues. Silver, however, slipped by ₹1,000 per kg to ₹95,000 per kg on Saturday from ₹96,000 per kg hit on Friday.
