The precious metal advanced as spot gold prices hit record high levels in early Asian trade following expectations of more rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve by year-end.
Gold prices advanced on Monday, September 23, to breach ₹76,000 per 10 gram in India amid the precious metal's record-high global market price. Silver prices also traded firm at ₹93,000 per kg in the country.

Gold prices breached the 76,000 per 10 gram level in key cities today (September 23, 2024). The 24K gold traded above ₹76,000 per 10 gram mark while 22K gold traded near 69,950 per 10 gram level.

Spot gold prices advanced 0.30% to hit all-time high of $2,631.19 an ounce. Spot gold traded 0.27% higher at $2,629.02 per ounce later. In future trades, gold prices rose by around 0.3% to hit a high of $2,655 an ounce on COMEX. The US dollar was almost flat against major world currencies while US bond yields inched up to 3.75%.
Silver prices today traded flat at ₹93,000 per kg level across major cities. Spot silver prices in global markets eased by around 0.8% to $30.92 per ounce in global markets, restricting local prices of the white metal.

Gold and silver prices rose last week following strong global trends as the 50 basis points rate cut by the US Federal Reserve supported the precious metal. Gold prices opened at ₹75,050 per 10 grams on Monday but eased to ₹74,450 by mid-week ahead of the announcement of the US Federal policy. Gold rebounded on Thursday and Friday to hit ₹75,930 per 10 grams. Silver also followed the trend and gained a total of ₹2,000 last week to trade at ₹93,000 per kg on Friday.
