Update Aadhaar card online for free till March 14: Step-by-step guide

Aadhaar card can be updated for free on the myAadhaar portal, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said.

Users should note that the deadline for free Aadhaar updation is March 14, 2024. For updating details at physical Aadhaar centres, ₹50 fee will be charged.

In a communication, UIDAI had said, "Based on the positive response from residents, it is decided to extend the facility for 3 more months i.e. from 15.12.2023 to 14.03.2024. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost through myAadhaar portal."

UIDAI has urged citizens who haven't updated their details in a decade to update their identity and address proof to revalidate their demographic details.

How to update Aadhaar for free?

• Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/portal
• Log in using an Aadhaar number and enter a one-time password (OTP).
• Review your details by clicking on 'Document Update'
• In case of any mismatch or incorrect details, choose the document type from the drop-down menu and upload the document.
• Click on submit details
• After this, a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) will be generated.

How to locate an offline Aadhaar centre?

• Visit https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar/
• To locate nearby Aadhaar centres, click on the 'Centres Nearby' tab. Fill in your location details to view nearby Aadhaar centres.
• Aadhaar centres can also be located by the 'Search by PIN Code' tab.

Aadhaar free update: What documents are required?

• Documents for address and identity proof: Ration card, voter ID, passport, kisan photo passbook, government-issued identity card/ certificate having address and certificate of disability.
• Documents for proof of identity: PAN card, driving license, secondary or senior school mark sheet, government-issued identity card, school leaving certificate with photograph and freedom fighter photo identity card.
• Documents for proof of address: Bank/Post Office passbook, water/wlectricity/gas bill (last three months), rent/ lease/ leave and license agreement, property tax receipt and medical insurance policy.
