Budget carrier IndiGo plans to add "more than 1 aircraft per week" to its existing fleet in FY25, as per a presentation for analysts shared on Friday, March 22.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, currently has a fleet strength of 350 aircraft. In June last year, it had inked the biggest-ever aviation purchase order for 500 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The deal carried a list price of $55 billion.

The purchase order had eclipsed the 470-aircraft acquisition pact inked by rival Air India with Airbus and Boeing.

IndiGo, in the FY25 guidance shared with analysts, said it expects to log double-digit growth in terms of capacity expansion in the forthcoming fiscal year.

The airline flew over 100 million passengers in FY24, and expects to lodge a growth rate in the "early double digits" in terms of the number of passengers it flies in FY25.

Employee headcount

According to IndiGo, its total staff count is expected to increase to 5,500-6,000 in FY25. The projection is 10-20% higher than the current headcount of 5,000 employees.

The airline, in the presentation for analysts, highlighted that its number of employees increased by around 10% in the outgoing fiscal. At the end of FY23, the headcount was 4,500.

The carrier claimed that it has employed the "highest number of women pilots globally". Out of the total staff, 44.2% are female and 55.8% are male, it added.

Meanwhile, shares of IndiGo edged lower at the stock markets in the early hours of trade. The stock was valued at ₹3,277.40 on the NSE at 10:38 AM, down 0.39% as against the previous day’s close.
