PM Kisan is a central scheme which gives farmers an income support of ₹6000 annually in three equal instalments. The funds are directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiaries.
The scheme is only available for farmers who own cultivable land. Taxpayers are not eligible under the program.
PM Modi will release the 16th instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on February 28, 2024. eKYC is mandatory for PMKISAN registered farmers. OTP-based eKYC is available on the PM Kisan portal.
For the 16th instalment release, farmers must complete eKYC and link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts. This ensures direct transfer of benefits to genuine beneficiaries, eliminating middlemen.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has developed a mobile application to help farmers complete their eKYC for PM KISAN. The app uses facial authentication-based eKYC, which allows farmers to complete their own eKYC. Additionally, they can also help up to 100 other farmers in their neighbourhood to complete eKYC from the comfort of their homes.
The government released the 15th installment of the PM Kisan scheme, totaling over ₹18,000 crore, to more than eight crore farmers on November 15, 2023.
