Stock Market Highlights: Markets close in green; NIFTY50 gains 0.29%, SENSEX up 150 points

Benchmark indices closed higher on Friday, with NIFTY50 gaining 0.29% and SENSEX surging 150 points. Out of the NIFTY50 space, 28 stocks were advancing. Eicher Motors, Adani Ports and Mahindra and Mahindra were among top gainers.

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), the prominent Indian rolling stock manufacturer has commenced the production of trainsets as part of a contract with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited's (BMRCL) Phase 2 Yellow Line project.

Shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited hit a 52-week-high of ₹3,990 on the NSE. At 2:30 pm, the stock was up 17.2% at ₹3,973.6 crore.

The flagship company of The Oberoi Group, EIH Associated Hotels’ share price surged 5% to reach a 52-week high of ₹892.60 apiece on the NSE. This rise in the stock price comes immediately after the company’s board meeting scheduled for 14 June, 2024.

Zydus Lifesciences Limited has received tentative approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Azilsartan Medoxomil and Chlorthalidone Tablets, 40 mg/12.5 mg and 40 mg/25 mg (USRLD: Edarbyclor tablets).

Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, has signed a binding agreement for the acquisition of Penna Cement Industries (PCIL) at an enterprise value of ₹10,422 crore. Shares of Ambuja Cements were trading over 2% higher on Friday.

Global pharma major Lupin Limited on Friday announced that the United States Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) has completed an inspection of its Injectable facility in Nagpur, India. The inspection of the facility was carried out from June 10 to June 13, 2024, and concluded with zero 483 observations.

MCX Gold futures opened in the green on Friday after the US producer price index unexpectedly fell 0.2% in May, supporting the case for an early rate cut. A reduction in interest rates brings down the opportunity cost of holding gold which itself does not yield anything. Read more.
