NIFTY50 and Sensex close with marginal gains; Stock Market Highlights

The NIFTY Financial Services index was down 0.2% today. Cholamandalam Finance (+1.5%) IEX (+1.5%) and Axis Bank (+0.7%) were top gainers, whereas Kotak Bank (-1.2%) and LIC Housing Finance (-1.1%) were the top losers.

The NIFTY Midcap 100 Index was up 0.3%, while the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index closed 1.2% lower.

The BANK NIFTY (-0.5%) index closed in the red today. Selling pressure in banking stocks, including IndusInd Bank (-2.1%), Kotak Bank (-1.2%), HDFC Bank (-0.3%) pulled down the index.

NIFTY50 (+0.1%) and Sensex (+0.1%) closed marginally higher in today’s trading session. Gains in Infosys (+1.2%), ITC (+0.8%) and Reliance Industries (+0.3%) propelled the markets higher. On the sectoral front, IT and Auto were the top gainers, while PSU Bank and Metal were the top losers.

Shares of Eclerx Services gained more than 12% today, touching a new 52-week high of ₹2,760 per share. So far this month, shares of the IT service provider are up over 32%

Selling pressure in Raymond stock intensified today as the shares declined as much as 4%. Raymond stock is on a losing streak, declining for the seventh straight session. This fall comes as investors are uncertain about the company's future prospects amid ongoing legal battle between promoters and the proposed formation of a family trust.

UK’s FTSE is up 0.2%, while Germany’s DAX is trading 0.2% higher. France’s CAC is also trading 0.4% higher.
