NIFTY50 and SENSEX close higher in a volatile session, Media stocks on a roll; Stock Market Highlights

The NIFTY Midcap 100 index (+0.2%) closed higher today. Meanwhile, NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index (-0.1%) closed in the red today.

The NIFTY Financial Services (+0.1%) index closed higher today, with IEX (+1.2%) and ICICI Bank (+1.3%) being the top gainers, while REC (-1.7%) and Chola Finance (-1.1%) being the top losers.

The BANK NIFTY (+0.2%) index closed in the green. Gains in ICICI Bank (+1.3%), HDFC Bank (+0.3%) and Indusind (+0.9%) supported the index.

India benchmark indices – NIFTY50 (+0.3%) and SENSEX (+0.3%) – closed higher for the second consecutive day. Out of the NIFTY50 universe, 26 stocks made gains. On the sectoral front, Media and Metal were the top gainers. Network 18, Dish TV and DB Corp gained in the range of 3% to 20%.

• Long build up: SBI Life, Indusind Bank, Cipla, HCL Tech and HDFC Bank

• Short build up: Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Auto, State Bank of India, Nestle India and Axis Bank

The IPO of Jyoti CNC Automation has been subscribed more than 3 times on day 2. Retail investors have flocked towards the IPO with the retail portion being subscribed more than 10 times. Similarly, the non-institutional investor segment has also been subscribed more than 5 times. Click here to know more about the IPO.

Shares of the cloud services company are up more than 9% today.

This comes after it said that it had entered into its first commercial agreement with a bank in India for Wisely ATP.

Shares of Pondy Oxides and Chemicals are up 5% today and trading at their 52-week high.

This comes after the company inked an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government for recycling and manufacturing plants for non-ferrous metals, lithium-ion batteries, paper, plastics and rubber.

The company plans to invest ₹300 to ₹500 crore for this project.
