Most brokerage stocks tumble as SENSEX, NIFTY end in red amid broad sell-off

Domestic benchmark indices SENSEX and NIFTY once again came under heavy selling pressure on Friday after a pullback rally in the previous session. The SENSEX tanked 453.85 points, or 0.62%, to close at 72,643.43, and the NIFTY slipped 123.35 points, or 0.56%, to end at 22,023.35.

The BSE gauge SENSEX opened below the key 73,000 level and hit the day's low at 72,485 before reclaiming some of its intraday losses. The index fell as much as 612 points during the session. Likewise, the broader NSE NIFTY too started on a tepid note and went to touch the day's low of 21,931.7 before staging a mild recovery.

In line with the broader markets, shares of brokerages too felt the selling pressure. Of the 11 brokerage stocks reviewed here, seven shares closed with marginal to moderate losses.

Among the major losers were ICICI Securities, Anand Rathi Wealth Limited, Dolat Algotech Ltd, Geojit Financial Services Ltd and Angel One - all shedding up to 1.98%.

On the other hand, 5Paisa Capital Ltd, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, SMC Global Securities Limited and Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd closed with gains.

In today's market wrap, here's a look at the performance of the shares of major brokerage firms.

Angel One

Angel One stock fell 1.17% to close at ₹2,619 apiece on the NSE today. The stock registered its drop for the seventh session in the last eight days. In the previous session, it closed higher by 9.35%.

ICICI Securities

Shares of ICICI Securities Ltd closed 1.98% lower at ₹726 on NSE today. The stock logged its fifth straight session loss. It opened on a negative note and fell to a day's low of ₹718.55 before reclaiming some of its lost ground.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services

Motilal Oswal Financial Services closed marginally up at ₹1,485 apiece on the NSE. After opening on a sluggish note, the brokerage firm's shares went on to hit the day's lowest level at ₹1,421 before making a good comeback.

Anand Rathi Wealth Limited

Anand Rathi Wealth shares logged their seventh consecutive loss on Friday. The stock fell 1.88% to end at ₹3,701 apiece. The stock opened flat and came under immense selling pressure as the day progressed and hit the day's low of ₹3,490.3 per share.

SMC Global Securities Limited

SMC Global Securities shares advanced 3.12% to close at ₹119 apiece on the NSE, marking its second straight day of gains. The brokerage's shares started positively and gained further strength in morning deals, touching the day's high of ₹119.70 apiece.

5Paisa Capital Limited

5Paisa Capital shares surged 6.33% to close at ₹511, marking its second consecutive session of gains on the NSE. The stock reached its day's high of ₹526.85 before surrendering some gains.

IIFL Securities Ltd

IIFL Securities shares dropped 0.38% to settle at ₹117.25 today on the NSE. Starting on a negative note, the stock touched the day's low of ₹113.65 before recovering some of its lost territory.

Dolat Algotech Ltd

Dolat Algotech shares fell 1.11% to settle the session at ₹66.55 apiece on the NSE. The stock started on a flat note but rallied briefly to touch the day's high of ₹69. The brokerage firm shares have logged their fifth loss in the past six days.

Geojit Financial Services Ltd

Shares of Geojit Financial Services Ltd shares fell 1.07% to close at ₹65 apiece on the NSE. Intraday, the brokerage's shares oscillated between a high of ₹67.05 and a low of ₹63.75 apiece.

Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd

Shares of Nuvama Wealth Management Ltd stock gained for the second straight day, surging 3.72% to close at ₹4,150 apiece on the NSE on Friday. Intraday, its shares hit a high of ₹4,374.7 and a low of ₹3,970 apiece.

Monarch Networth Capital

Shares of Monarch Networth Capital dipped 0.24% to end at ₹534 apiece. Despite opening on a positive note, the brokerage's stock lost momentum and plunged to a day's low of ₹525.15 before making a slight recovery.
