Most brokerage stocks close higher in a volatile market

A majority of broking firm stocks closed in the positive territory on Tuesday, April 2, despite volatility in the broader market.

Benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY, closed marginally lower, ending their three-day upward momentum. While BSE SENSEX closed at 73,903.91, down 110.64 points, or 0.15%, NSE NIFTY settled 8.7 points, or 0.04%, lower at 22,453.3 level.

Shares of leading brokerage firms, such as Geojit Financial Services, Monarch Networth Capital, 5Paisa Capital, IIFL Securities, SMC Global Securities, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Dolat Algotech and Nuvama Wealth Management saw healthy gains of up to 9%. Conversely, shares of Anand Rathi Wealth, Angel One and ICICI Securities were among the losers.

Of the 11 brokerage stocks reviewed in today’s market wrap, eight ended in the green, while three closed in the red.

Geojit Financial Services

Shares of Geojit Financial Services experienced a significant surge of 9.49% during the intraday session on the NSE, reaching an intraday high of ₹76.80 apiece. The stock opened at ₹70, slightly below its previous close of ₹70.05, and ended the day ₹76.3, with a gain of 8.92% at the close.

Monarch Networth Capital

Monarch Networth Capital share ended the day at 1.95% higher, at ₹577 apiece on the NSE. The stock opened at ₹576.1 apiece and reached a high of ₹585 during the trading session.

5Paisa Capital

5Paisa Capital shares closed at ₹535.5 apiece, up 1.33%, on the NSE. Opening at ₹529.1, slightly above its previous close of ₹528.45, the stock gained as much as 3.54% during the day, reaching an intraday high of ₹548.15.

IIFL Securities

Shares of IIFL Securities closed in the green with a 2.6% gain at ₹132 apiece on the NSE. After opening marginally higher at ₹128.7, the stock gained as much as 3.285 to hit an intraday high of ₹133 apiece on the NSE.

SMC Global Securities

SMC Global Securities shares ended 0.59% higher at ₹128.55 apiece on the NSe. The stock oscillated between day’s low of ₹126.6 and an intraday high of ₹129.85 apiece on the NSE.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services

Motilal Oswal Financial Services shares ended the trading day with a 2.04% gain at ₹1,788.5 apiece on the NSE. Opening higher at ₹1,762 per share, compared to the previous close of ₹1,752.70, the stock surged to an intraday high of ₹1,805, representing a maximum gain of 2.41% in the session.

Dolat Algotech

Dolat Algotech shares closed 3.15% higher at ₹77 apiece on the NSE. The stock gained as much as 4.54% to hit an intraday high at ₹78.7 apiece.

Nuvama Wealth Management

Nuvama Wealth Management shares closed Tuesday’s session with healthy gains of 4.73% at ₹4,847 apiece on the NSE. The brokerage stock had touched an intraday high of ₹4,974.95 after opening at ₹4,702.

Anand Rathi Wealth

Anand Rathi Wealth shares closed in the read with a loss of 5.07% at ₹3,437 apiece on the NSE. After a gap-up opening at ₹3,639.95 apiece, the stock gained as much as 2.05% to hit an intraday high of ₹3,695 apiece before paring some of its gains.

Angel One

Angel One shares ended with a marginal decline of 0.06% at ₹3,023.75 apiece on the NSE. During the session, the stock declined about 0.96% to hit an intraday low of ₹ 2,989.10 after opening at ₹3,018.05. During the day, the stock recovered some of the losses to touch an intraday high of ₹3,058.9 apiece.

ICICI Securities

ICICI Securities shares closed marginally lower at ₹720.5 apiece, down 0.51%, on the NSE. The stock oscillated between an intraday low of ₹714.60 and a high of ₹724.2 on the NSE.
