Markets hit new record high, SENSEX breaches 75,000, NIFTY above 22,750 for first time

Broad market indices are outperforming benchmark indices

Benchmark indices continued their record breaking rally on Tuesday, with BSE SENSEX crossing the historic 75,000 mark for the first time ever in early morning trade. Meanwhile, NIFTY50 climbed to a fresh new record high, trading above 22,750.

The NIFTY50 trades 75 points higher at 22,740, while the SENSEX advanced over 250 points to 75,012 supported by gains in IT and banking stocks like Infosys (+2.0%), ICICI Bank (+0.9%), HDFC Bank (+0.3%), Axis Bank(+1.1%).

The index strength remains on the positive side as 33 stocks out of NIFTY 50 are trading in green, while 17 are trading in red.

Broad market indices are outperforming benchmark indices. NIFTY Smallcap 100 rose 0.75%. NIFTY Midcap 100 also gained 0.40%.

Except for NIFTY FMCG (-0.01%), all sectoral indices are trading in green. NIFTY Realty (1.56%), NIFTY Metal (1.50%), and NIFTY IT (0.96%) gained the most.

Meanwhile, oil and gas stocks remains under pressure today as Brent crude oil prices climb above $90/barrel mark amid persisting geopolitical tensions in Middle East.

On the stocks front, real estate developer Godrej Properties is trading 5% higher after the company announced its best-ever quarterly and annual sales, having sold over 5,000 homes during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024. Read more.

Shares of Sterlite Technologies were trading at ₹145, reflecting a gain of 13.9%, after it raised funds via qualified institutional placement. The firm had said the floor price of ₹119 per share for the QIP.
