Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy has gifted 15,00,000 equity shares worth ₹240 crore of the information technology company to his grandson Ekagrah Rohan Murty.

Four-month-old Ekagrah is the son of Rohan Murty and Aparna Krishnan. He is the third grandchild of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty, who are also grandparents to the two daughters of Akshata Murty.

According to an exchange filing, the shares Ekagrah acquired represent a 0.04% stake in Infosys. The mode of acquisition was "off-market".

Following this, Narayana Murthy's stake in India’s second-largest IT company has been reduced from 0.40% or 1.66 crore shares to 0.36% or 1.51 crore shares.

Narayana Murthy is one of the co-founders of Infosys and has previously served as chief executive officer (CEO), chairman, president and chief mentor of the company. According to Forbes, he is the 77th richest man in India with a net worth of $4.5 billion.
