What were the 7 priorities of Union Budget 2023? Here is the full list

In her previous year’s Budget presentation, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman listed out the 7 priorities of the Government. In her speech, she highlighted that these priorities complemented each other and acted as the ‘Saptarishi’, guiding us through the Amrit Kaal.

1. Inclusive Development: The Union Budget emphasises inclusive development, aligning with the philosophy of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas. Specific attention is given to farmers, women, youth, OBCs, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, divyangjan, and economically weaker sections. The focus extends to Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the North-East.

2. Reaching the Last Mile: Efforts are directed towards reaching the last mile through initiatives like the Aspirational Blocks Programme and the Pradhan Mantri PVTG Development Mission. The goal is to saturate vulnerable tribal groups with essential facilities, improve socio-economic conditions, and enhance access to basic services.

3. Infrastructure & Investment: Infrastructure and productive capacity receive a significant boost with a 33% increase in capital investment outlay, reaching Rs 10 lakh crore. Railways, urban infrastructure, and transport projects are prioritised, along with support to state governments for capital investment.

4. Unleashing the Potential: Measures to enhance ease of doing business, decriminalisation of legal provisions, and the establishment of Centers of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence are highlighted. The focus is on fostering innovation, research, and trust-based governance.

**5. Green Growth: **A commitment to green growth is emphasized, with initiatives like the National Green Hydrogen Mission, investments in energy transition, and support for Battery Energy Storage Systems. The goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

6. Youth Power: Empowering the youth is a key focus with the National Education Policy, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0, and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme. Skilling, job creation, and support for international opportunities for the youth are prioritised.

7. Financial Sector: The financial sector is strengthened with measures such as the revamped credit guarantee scheme for MSMEs, the establishment of a National Financial Information Registry, and a Central Processing Centre for efficient handling of company filings. Additionally, financial incentives for senior citizens and the introduction of the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate are highlighted.
