Zee Media Corporation Ltd. is one of the largest and most diverse broadcasting companies in India. The Mumbai-headquartered company operates a network of regional, national and global news channels. It also has a significant presence in the digital publishing segment.
The company, founded by Essel Group, was incorporated under the name Zee Sports Limited in August 1999. With effect from May 27, 2004, the company was renamed as Zee News Limited. In 2006, the company demerged itself from the Essel Group and was incorporated as a separate entity.

The digital content business of the company is operated through a subsidiary called Indiadotcom Digital Private Limited (IDPL). Zee News is the flagship new channel of the company.
