Reliance Power Limited, a part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, is mainly involved in power generation and distribution. The company had a diversified portfolio across thermal, hydro, solar and wind energy, with assets spread across multiple states.

Reliance Power and its subsidiaries have a larger portfolio of power generation capacity, both in operation as well as capacity under development.

The power projects are diversified in terms of geographic location, fuel type, and fuel source. Each project is planned to be strategically located near an available fuel supply or load centre.

Reliance Power has close to 6000 MW of operational power-generating assets. The projects under development include three coal-fired projects, one gas-fired projects and twelve hydroelectric projects.

Reliance Power aims to support India’s growing electricity demand by building reliable and scalable power infrastructure, while gradually increasing its focus on renewable and clean energy.

Reliance Power was incorporated in 1995 as Bawana Power Private Limited and later became a part of the Reliance Group. The company gained attention in 2008 with one of India’s largest IPO, which showed a strong interest in its ambitious power generation plans.

Over the years, Reliance Power developed several flagship projects, including the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project in Madhya Pradesh.

Reliance Power faced financial and execution challenges; however, it still managed to streamline operations, reduce debt and focus on optimising its existing assets.
