HEG Limited is a leading manufacturer and exporter of graphite electrodes in India. The company is a flagship company of the LNJ Bhilwara Group and is involved in supplying essential components for steel production.
The company produces up to 1,00,000 metric tonnes of Ultra-High Power (UHP) grade graphite electrodes annually, specialising in UHP, Super-High Power (SHP), and High Power (HP) electrodes. HEG Limited exports around 70% of its production to 30+ countries in the world and has global giants such as ArcelorMittal, POSCO, Thyssenkrupp, US Steel, and Nucor as its clients.
HEG Limited launched its IPO and went public, listing on both BSE and the NSE, trading under the ticker symbols 509631 and HEG, respectively.
History of HEG Limited
The company was initially established as Hindustan Electro-Graphites Limited in 1972 and received technical and financial assistance from a French company called La Société des Électrodes et Réfractoires Savoie, which was a subsidiary of Pechiney, to start operations.
In the 1990s, Hindustan Electro-Graphites Limited became a premier global player in the graphite electrodes industry and shifted its focus to producing Ultra High Power (UHP) grades and supplying them to global steel producers.
On 30 October 1991, Hindustan Electro-Graphites Limited officially changed its name to HEG Limited and continued to grow, becoming one of the leading companies in the industry.

- Graphite Electrodes Segment
Producing Graphite Electrodes is the core business operation of HEG Limited, accounting for a significant portion of the company’s revenue. The business segment involves manufacturing and exporting Graphite Electrodes of Ultra High Power (UHP) and High Power (HP) grades along with carbon specialities, mini-rods, and other components. These products are used in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) used in steel manufacturing.
HEG Limited operates the world’s largest single-site integrated graphite electrodes plant in Mandideep, Madhya Pradesh and heavily exports a major portion of its production to various countries.
Power Generation Segment
The company operates a captive and commercial power segment, which includes two thermal power plants in Mandideep with a total capacity of 63 MW. The company also operates a 13.5 MW hydroelectric power plant at Tawa Nagar. HEG Limited uses these plants to generate power for internal manufacturing processes and external commercial sale.
