Acetone is a commercial solvent and raw material with usage in the chemical explosives and lacquer industry. It is used as a solvent for cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, celluloid, cellulose ether, chlorinated rubber, various resins, fats and oils, and as an absorbent for acetylene gas. Hydrogen peroxide is used in the paper and textile industries for bleaching purposes as a substitute for hazardous chlorine.
