Deepak Nitrite is engaged in the manufacturing of advanced chemical intermediates for industries. Incorporated in 1970, the company started with a fully indigenous sodium nitrite plant in Nandesari, Gujarat. Today, Deepak Nitrite has a presence in more than 20 countries. The company has manufacturing facilities in Gujarat's Nandesari; Maharashtra's Pune, Roha, and Tojala; and Hyderabad in Telangana.
Deepak Nitrite's portfolio includes over 100 products developed for various industries. The company generates over 35% of its revenue through exports.
Deepak Nitrite caters to various industries including colourants, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber, speciality & fine chemicals. It manufactures intermediates for cosmetics, lubricants, polymers, industrial explosives, paints, optical brighteners, petroleum additives, photographic chemicals, specialty fibres and water treatment chemicals.
Deepak Nitrite started manufacturing 3000 TPA concentrated nitric acid in 1984-85. The company also commissioned its hexamine plant this year. The company expanded its portfolio with the production of guanidine nitrite and hydroxylamine sulphate in 1986-87. It commissioned its second CAN plant in 1987-89.
The company's Sahyadri dyestuffs & chemical division developed new products for exclusive customers in Europe and the USA during 1995-1996. A year later the firm's Taloja chemical division established the plant for hydrogenation of nitroaromatics at Taloja and started commercial production of Toluidines.
The company acquired a 68.76% stake in Aryan Pesticides Ltd in 2000. Aryan Pesticides Ltd was eventually merged with Deepak Nitrite Limited with effect from March 31, 2004
Two years later, the company took over the DASDA business of Vasant Chemical Limited with effect from August 2006. In 2010, Deepak Nitrite launched products in the fuel additive segment.
The company commissioned the brownfield expansion at its Nandesari facility in June 2013, with commercial production beginning during the first half of FY 2013-14. This expansion enhanced the production capacity for inorganic salts. The firm incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Deepak Nitrite Corporation LLC, in North Carolina, USA. to take care of marketing & operations for customers in North and South America.
Deepak Nitrite launched a special grade of sodium nitrite for the export market in FY-16. The company entered into the segment of pharma and personal care intermediates.
In FY22, the company began the production of isopropyl alcohol at its manufacturing facility in Dahej. It also commissioned a brownfield expansion project of isopropyl alcohol at the Nandesari Roha and Taloja plants. In FY23, the company began the installation of a sulfuric acid concentration (sac) unit at the Nandesari Plant.
