Bajaj Consumer Care Limited (BCCL) is a leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) producer and distributor in the country. The company is primarily engaged in a wide range of hair, beauty and personal care products.
The FMCG arm of the Bajaj Group has been catering to the consumer products segment for the last 40 years. The company’s products were initially marketed by different Bajaj Group entities. In 1953, Bajaj Sevashram Private Limited was established to market hair oil and other beauty products. Now the company holds a market leadership position in the light hair oil segment, with Bajaj Almond Drops Hair Oil remaining the flagship brand of the company.
In 2001, the manufacturing business of BSL was demerged and transferred to the company, which was later named as Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.
In April 2006, the company was registered under the name Bhaumik Agro Products Pvt Limited. In September 2007, the company’s name was changed to Bajaj Corp Pvt. Limited (BCPL). It became a subsidiary of Bajaj Resources in 2008.
BCPL started production in 2008 when it opened its first plant in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. The company established a second facility in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, in 2009 to increase its production capacity.
In 2018, the name of Bajaj Corp Pvt. Limited was changed to Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd (BCCL).
Later the company also entered into the personal care and grooming business as well. The company has emerged as a market leader in the light hair oil category.
The company went public in 2010. The company is listed on both BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE). The market capitalisation of Bajaj Consumer stood at over ₹3,180 crore, of February 5, 2024. Bajaj Consumer share price has dropped nearly 14% in the last three years.
The Bajaj Group company owns popular brands like Bajaj Almond Drops Hair Oil and Nomarks, a skincare cream. The company’s other popular products include Brahmi Amla, Amla Shikakai and Jasmine hair oil. Bajaj Consumer Care also produces oral care products under the brand name Bajaj Black and Bajaj Red Dant Manjan.
In 2013, the company entered the skincare segment with the acquisition of NoMarks brand from Ozone Ayurvedics. In 2020, the company also ventured into hygiene products segment with the launch of Bajaj Nomarks hand sanitiser. The next year, the BCCL also launched new products like Natyv Soul Hair Serum, Natyv Soul Hair Masque and Bajaj 100% Pure Coconut Oil.
The company has a strong distribution network encompassing both rural and urban markets across India.
Bajaj Consumer Care Limited at the very early stage started global expansion. Outside India, the company is currently present in more than 30 countries, including the Middle East, Africa, ASEAN and SAARC regions.
