Alok Industries Limited is a textile manufacturing company founded in 1986 and headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The company is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries and has five core segments: Home Textiles, Cotton Yarn, Apparel Fabric, Garments, Technical Textiles, Textile Accessories and Polyester Yarn.

Alok Industries Limited is mainly engaged in home textiles, ready-made garments and polyester yarns, exporting around 26% of its products to 90+ countries such as the United States of America, European countries, South America, Asia and Africa.

Alok Industries Limited has a majority stake in a textile company called Mileta, a Czech Republic company which supplies its products all across Europe.

The company went public and launched its IPO in 1993, raising around ₹4.5 crore with an issue value of ₹20 per share. The company is listed on both stock exchanges, BSE and NSE.

History of Alok Industries Limited

Alok Industries Limited was established as a private limited company in 1986 and set up its first polyester texturising plant in 1989. In 1193, the company decided to go public and become a public limited company.

The company underwent a significant debt-funded expansion from 2004 to 2013. By 2017, the total debt had reached ₹30,000 crores, and the company was unable to repay its obligations.

In 2019, NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) approved the resolution plan, and Alok Industries Limited was acquired by Reliance and JM Financial Asset Reconstruction for ₹5000 crores. The company’s operations are managed by Reliance Industries Limited through three nominated directors appointed on the board of AIL.
