The company was founded in 1990 by Rajinder Gupta and is globally recognised as one of the largest manufacturers of home textiles, which include terry towels, bed sheets, etc. The company is also the world’s largest wheat straw-based paper producer.
Trident Limited is ranked as No. 1 in the branded copier segment, and its paper segment has the highest operating margin among its listed competitors in India. It is the second-largest exporter of home textile products in India. The company is also a major manufacturer of industrial and battery-grade sulphuric acid in Northern India.
The company launched its IPO and went public in October 1992 to fund its initial yarn plant in Sanghera, Punjab, with a face value of ₹1 per share and raised around ₹6.5 crore.
The Trident Limited was initially established in 1990 as Abhishel Industries Limited. Trident Limited is the flagship company of Trident Group. The company started as a standalone yarn manufacturer in Punjab and later evolved into a global textile and paper conglomerate. The company has massive manufacturing units in Barnala (Punjab) and Budni (Madhya Pradesh).
The company launched its first public IPO in 1992 to fund its yarn plant. By 1998, the company expanded into home textiles by setting up a bath linen manufacturing facility and also commissioned another yarn spinning unit. In 2002, the company diversified it product portfolio by amalgamating Varinder Agro Chemicals Limited and became a major player in the paper production industry.
In 2011, the company officially changes it name from Abhishek Industries Limited to Trident Limited. In the following years, Trident Limited acquired and expanded its terry towel unit in Budni, Madhya Pradesh, which is now the world’s largest integrated unit.
Today, the company operates as a $1-3 billion company globally and has maintained it status as one of the world’s largest home textile manufacturers and the world’s largest wheat-straw-based paper producer.

Paper and Chemicals The company is globally recognised for its eco-friendly paper manufacturing processes and is the largest wheat straw-based paper manufacturer in the world. The company also produces industrial-grade, battery-grade, and laboratory reagent (LR) grade sulphuric acid and supplies it to allied industries.
Energy Trident Limited operates multiple capital power plants and rooftop solar installations to provide clean, sustainable energy for its manufacturing facilities in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
