Urja Global Limited is one of the biggest companies in the renewable energy sector in India. The company is primarily engaged in development and operation of solar projects. Urja global also offers design, consultancy, integration, supply, installation and maintenance services for Solar Power Plants.
It has one of the largest pan-India sales/installation networks in the solar industry. All solar products of Urja Limited are ISO 9001 certified and comply with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) standards.
Urja Global Limited was initially established under the name Commitment Capital Services Limited in May 1992 as a Private Limited Company.
Subsequently, in November 1993, it was converted into a Public Limited Company.
Commitment Capital Services Limited was later renamed to Urja Global Limited in August 2009.
Urja Global Limited’s market capitalisation stood at more than ₹850 crore as of January 3, 2023. Urja Global share price has surged more than 141% in the last three years.
Business Operations
Urja Global Limited is headquartered in New Delhi and its extensive service network is spread across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh.
The company is also an approved channel partner of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Urja Global’s solar products include solar panels, solar inverters, solar chargers, solar water heaters, solar water pumps and solar atta chakki. It also offers solar powered hybrid charging stations for e-Vehicles. The renewable energy major also offers solar home lighting systems, solar lanterns, solar street lighting systems, rooftop systems, solar PV panels.
Urja Global Limited manufactures a diverse range of electric vehicles, including e-scooters, e-autos, e-rickshaws and e-loaders. It produces a variety of batteries, including those for vehicles, inverters, UPS systems, and solar tubular batteries.
The company is also engaged in rural electrification, especially in hilly areas, forest regions, deserts, islands and remote villages.
Urja Global is a leading manufacturer and supplier of EVs. It offers e-scooters under the models Urja e-Life, Urja e-Zess, Chetna and Rudra. The company’s e-rickshaw is sold under the brand e-Rath while the pickup vehicle is sold under the brand name Urja e-loader.
The company manages its operations through the subsidiaries— Urja Batteries Ltd, Sahu Minerals and Properties Ltd and Urja Digital World Limited.
Urja Batteries Ltd is a leading manufacturer of lead acid batteries while Sahu Minerals and Properties Ltd is engaged in the business of development of the land for residential and commercial projects. The company also offers education and training on renewable energy at its Urja Kendras. These activities are carried out through the subsidiary Urja Digital World Ltd.
The company has set a target of an installed capacity of 450 GW renewable energy by 2030.
