Bharti Airtel Limited is a multinational telecommunications company, headquartered in New Delhi. The company offers services to over 650 million customers in 15 countries across India and Africa. The company offers mobile telephony services via 5G, 4G and LTE Advanced technologies. It also provides fixed-line broadband and voice services to its customers.

Bharti Airtel Limited launched its IPO and went public in 2002, and raised around ₹834.02 crores by issuing shares at ₹45 per share. The company is listed on both BSE and NSE.

History of Bharti Airtel Limited

Sunil Mittal, the founder of Bharti Airtel, used to assemble push-button phones, which were imported from Singapore and replaced the old-fashioned rotary phones used in the country. Bharti Telecom Limited was established, which entered into a technical tie-up with Siemens AG of Germany to manufacture electronic push-button phones. By the 1990s, the company was manufacturing fax machines, cordless phones and other telecommunication electronics.

In 1992, Bharti bid for one of the first mobile network licenses and partnered with a French telecom company to obtain the Delhi cellular license. The company obtained significant investments from major global companies such as British Telecom and Singtel to speed up its network deployment.

In 2004, the company was renamed Bharti Airtel Limited and rapidly expanded its network coverage in the rural and urban markets in India.
